Sister Act
Deutsches Theater München presents a production by ShowSlot in collaboration with Jamie Wilson Productions
Glitter, gospel, goosebumps
Hallelujah—the hit musical Sister Act is back! After thrilling more than 100,000 visitors, the nuns are returning to Munich in 2026 to present a heavenly show experience based on the cult film. When disco diva Deloris suddenly has to go into hiding in a convent, two worlds collide: Look forward to a divine spectacle full of heavenly humor, beloved characters, and a rousing soundtrack.
From nightclub to convent
After one of her performances, nightclub singer Deloris van Cartier accidentally witnesses a murder—and suddenly finds herself in the witness protection program. Instead of the glamorous spotlight, she ends up in a conservative convent, where she is supposed to go undercover as a humble nun—much to the chagrin of the strict Mother Superior.
The singer is supposed to become part of the community by joining the church choir. But the nuns can’t carry a tune, so Deloris takes over. With her, every service becomes an event and the masses attract more and more people. When the sisters finally perform in front of the Pope, the gangsters track Deloris down and the nuns unexpectedly find themselves in great danger…
Sing to the heavens
Eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken (Disney’s Aladdin and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, among others) sweeps the dust off the songbooks with rousing show numbers and brings the audience to its feet.
Kevin Schroeder and Heiko Wohlgemuth translated Glenn Slater’s lyrics into German. Mary Robert, Mary Lazarus, and Deloris dance on stage to hits such as “Show Me Heaven,” “Sing to Heaven,” “The World I Never Saw,” and “Let Love In,” and the audience sways along. A heavenly delight!
