Even more culture on Munich’s most beautiful cabaret stage
Since the renovation of our theatre and its reopening in 2014, we have had Munich’s most beautiful cabaret stage in the Silbersaal alongside the main theatre. Cultural diversity is visible here. World music concerts, classical salon evenings and dance events take place as part of the Welt im Silbersaal series. We also present German singer-songwriters.
Salon – Musical and cultural salon evenings
We revive the salon culture of the 19th century and dedicate ourselves to the most diverse topics and artists in a musical and artistic way. Meet Schubert, Heinrich Heine, Kurt Weill and many more in the Silbersaal. Special thanks go to the pianist Maharani Chakrabarti, who will be playing a large part of the programme.
Die schöne Magelone
An actor tells the old tale of the knight Peter and the king’s daughter Magelone. In between, songs are played to piano accompaniment and tell of the ups and downs of emotions. Johannes Brahms created the song cycle in 15 romances based on Ludwig Tieck’s novella “Die schöne Magelone”. Udo Wachtveitl will take on the role of narrator for this atmospheric evening, with baritone Thomas Gropper and pianist Maharani Chakrabarti providing the music.
Lewin Creuz plays Paganini & Schubert
Together with the Süddeutsche Schubertgesellschaft, we present another song evening under the motto “Schubert and …”. The 21-year-old violinist Lewin Creuz plays the Capricen by Nicolo Paganini for the solo violin and three sonatins by Franz Schubert for violin and piano. He is accompanied by Dmitry Mayboroda on the wing.
Lewin Creuz began his young studies at the age of eleven and played the Paganini Violin Concerto at the Liederhalle Stuttgart at the age of 14. He has won prizes at numerous competitions such as the “Concours International Jeunes Talents” 2020, the “International American Young Musician Award” 2021 and the “Concerto Competition” 2022.
“Kennst du das Land?”: Songs based on Goethe and Shakespeare
Mignon, Gretchen, Ophelia: the young soprano Serafina Starke will slip into these characters from Goethe’s and Shakespeare’s literature in the salon evening. The winner of numerous competitions is highly praised as a great young talent on the opera stage (Barbarina in “Le nozze di Figaro” at the 2023 Salzburg Festival) as well as in the Lied repertoire. Accompanied by the great pianist Maharani Chakrabarti, she will perform compositions by Schubert, Schumann, Hensel, Strauss and many more.
Recital with Claudia Reinhard
Together with the Süddeutsche Schubertgesellschaft, we are presenting another recital under the motto “Schubert and …”. Soprano Claudia Reinhard sings works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Fanny Hensel and Franz Schubert. The focus is on female characters from “Mignon” to “Suleika”. Stefan Laux will accompany the recital on the grand piano.
Claudia Reinhard is in demand internationally as an oratorio, concert and ensemble singer and has been awarded prizes such as the ECHO Klassik, the OPUS Klassik and the Bavarian State Prize for Music. She is a lecturer in singing at the Munich University of Music and conducts various choirs.
