HOMAGE TO GREAT POP REBELS
Sophie Berner can be seen in leading roles in many well-known musicals. And she has already thrilled audiences here as Sally Bowles in Cabaret. With Let’s Get Loud – her very personal homage to great pop rebels – the Munich native, whose career began 15 years ago at the August Everding Theater Academy, is now celebrating a homecoming on the stage of our Silver Hall.
MADONNA, CHER AND MANY MORE
They were talented, passionate, they set new standards – many of those who are now part of the pop canon were considered rebellious in their early days – if only because they were female. Since then, female artists such as Madonna, Cher, Donna Summer, Kate Bush, Hildegard Knef, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Janis Joplin, Cyndi Lauper and many more have had a lasting influence on generations of female artists. Sophie Berner is one of them. The commitment, the courage to be loud, and the songs of her famous colleagues also inspired her and shaped her path as a singer. Songs like “Respect,” “Von nun an geht ́s bergab,” “Girls just wanna have fun,” “Mercedes Benz,” “Babooshka” and “Feeling good” became “life companions, heart plasters and stand-up songs,” as Berner herself says. “That’s why it’s time to dedicate a program to these indescribable power women. With a male band put together especially for this female program.”

Pressestimmen
