Das Deutsche Theater München presents an event by La Limonada Event GmbH
The magnificent world of color in Mexico
With the piece Frida Kahlo – Pasion por la Vida! we present another production by the renowned choreographer Enrique Gasa Valga after The Great Gatsby 2024. This time he takes you into the magnificent world of color in Mexico and traces Frida’s life, her passion and her exotic charisma with his dance company. The ensemble is once again supported by a fantastic live band led by the exceptional singer Greta Marcolongo, whose fiery Latin sound forms the basis for a breathtaking dance show. A feast for all the senses!
Master of self-staging
A master of self-dramatisation, marked by numerous health problems from an early age. Frida Kahlo once felt close to death and was never to leave it again. Stories and legends surround her life, which was characterised by suffering, her marriage and her bisexual affair. Frida Kahlo was a committed member of the Communist Party and was using a wheelchair after one of her legs was amputated. Her paintings are the sometimes unbearably cruel diary to her soul. A week before she died at the age of 47, Frida dipped her brush in blood-red paint and left her last greeting to life: VIVA LA VIDA.
Dance theatre with live music
Gasa Valga traces scenes from the life of Frida Kahlo in 14 images. The live music is a sound journey of newly arranged old boleros (including La Llorona, Paloma negra and Volver volver), tangos and popular Mexican songs, which are enriched by new original compositions by the musician and musical director of the piece, Roberto Tubaro. Piano, trumpet, guitar, bass and accordion combine with the extraordinary voice of singer Greta Marcolongo, who will also recite extracts from famous writings by Frida, to offer the audience an immersive, emotional and powerful experience in the captivating world of Frida Kahlo.
