Disney Der Glöckner von Notre Dame
Deutsches Theater München and ATG Entertainment present a german-language production by the Budapest Operetta Theatre
A story about love, courage and humanity
A timeless masterpiece returns to the stage: Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame tells the moving story of the disfigured Quasimodo, who grows up hidden high above the rooftops of Paris – far away from the world, yet longing for it. In October 2026, we will present the new German-language production by the Budapest Operetta Theatre on our stage for the first time.
Story based on Victor Hugo
When Quasimodo ventures among the people for the first time during the Festival of Fools, he gets into trouble and meets the courageous Esmeralda, who offers him compassion and friendship. Their encounter sparks a touching story about exclusion, love and justice – told against the magnificent backdrop of Notre Dame Cathedral, with breathtaking music and powerful emotions. Based on Victor Hugo’s world-famous novel, the musical combines the unforgettable Disney songs of Alan Menken, the multiple Oscar-winning composer, and the Oscar-winning lyricist Stephen Schwartz.
Impressive and epic
Powerful choirs, delicate ballads and stirring live orchestration create a stage epic full of passion, hope and humanity. Over 70 performers, magnificent costumes and an impressive stage set with Gothic architecture and huge bells transport the audience to the monumental Paris of the 15th century – an unforgettable live experience.
