A world-wide success for over 30 years
For over 30 years, the Chinese National Circus has been enchanting its auciences with extraordinary artistry. In February 2020, they will perform in Munich for the very first time – with the gala programme Happy Chinese New Year, which has been put together specifically for their 30th aniversary.
Chinese New Year
The celebration of the New Year has been a very important festival in China for centuries and is mainly celebrated within the family circle. Its importance makes it the perfect theme for the 30th anniversary show of the Chinese National Circus. Suitable acrobats were found in the city of Changsha in South China. In the winter of 2018, the programme celebrated its German premiere in Hanover and attraced 20.000 visitors in just 10 days.
Contortion, juggling and Kung-fu
30 masterful acrobats of the Hunan Acrobatic Troupe of China show a very special best-of of Chinese circus art, including highlights like contortion, juggling and Kung-fu. The show was directed by Raoul Schoregge and choreographed by Sun Qing Qing.
A captivating story
The symbiosis of spectacular acrobatics and poetic dance tells a captivating story: the members of a Chinese circus academy are unable to reach their families because of a landslide and have to spend New Year’s Day with each other at their school. Through this incident, they experience their jobs as well as the culture of their homeland in a completely new way. An emotional journey to their inner selves and Chinese history.
