With fascinating shadow play and an impressive multimedia show, the dancers of Pilobolus Dance Theatre take their audience on a journey to magical worlds. The new show of Shadowland can be experienced on our stage for the first time in December.
Dreamworld between acrobatics and poetry
Immerse yourself and let yourself be enchanted by the magical visual worlds of Shadowland. The talented dancers of Pilobolus Dance Theatre create a fascinating dream world between acrobatics and poetry with perfect precision and incredible artistry. In the impressive interplay of body control, music, light and shadow, fairy-tale sequences are created in which exotic flowers or elephants, even pieces of furniture, cars and buildings are formed easily and fluidly from the bodies of the dancers alone.
Fairytale images to rousing music
Shadowland tells an emotional and enchanting coming-of-age story, celebrating the power of transformation with the unlimited possibilities of dreams and the grace of acrobatic dance. The athletic bodies of the exceptional dancers combine modern dance and ballet with shadow theater, multimedia and light – framed by the moving sound paintings of film composer David Poe.
Founded in 1971, Pilobolus Dance Theatre from the USA has already thrilled more than 1.5 million spectators in 34 countries on four continents with Shadowland. The unique shadow theater enchanted an audience of billions at the Academy Awards in 2007 and was featured on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” (USA) as well as on “Wetten, dass…?
