The Return Of The Dolphins
The Deutsches Theater München presents a production by Kastner-Delphine GbR
THE OKTOBERFEST PLAY
Some people think of the Oktoberfest itself as a big theatre, which, as we know, like so many other things, could not take place for two years. And that is exactly what has inspired the Munich author, director, actor and singer Stefan Kastner to write his new play. After its premiere last year, the play returns – again during the Wiesn, of course – to our beautiful Silbersaal in September. We are very pleased to be able to present this enigmatic, quirky and humorous mixture of theatre and film with us once again.
WATER AT THE WIESN
Since the Munich Oktoberfest has been cancelled twice in a row and calm has returned to the square, the dolphins now dare to come near the Festwiese again, as they used to. The water that once surrounded the Theresienwiese has also returned to the Bavariaring. On the occasion of her 1500th service anniversary, Bavaria, the secular patroness of Bavaria, wants new personalities for the Hall of Fame. Therefore, she sends the dolphins to the Aegean Sea, where the afterlife is located, to bring Isabeau de Bavière, the Wittelsbach on the French throne, as well as Erika, the daughter of Thomas Mann and also the poet Heinrich Heine back to Munich to have them – in the Hall of Fame – permanently with her. But the goddess did not reckon with the powerful brewery owner Dr. Keferloher. The Babylonian Nebuchadnezzar II and Andreas Baader together with Gudrun Ensslin smuggled themselves onto the dolphins, both for different reasons. The fact that these arrivals meet the former national coach Jogi Löw, a girls’ art group from the Max-Gymnasium, the painter Marianne von Werefkin and the Tölzer Boys’ Choir in short film clips is quite another matter …
