BABY
MASTERCLASS IM SILBERSAAL
The normal madness of having children
Since 2015, the August Everding Theatre Academy has enriched the programme in our historic Silbersaal with great productions from the Master’s degree programme in Musical. This year’s programme is Baby, a musical about the normal madness of having children.
We’re having (no) baby – What now?
Three very different couples and their desire to have children: the Broadway musical Baby by David Shire tells the funny, cheeky and touching story of how much the “most natural miracle in the world” will change their lives and relationships. The unmarried students Lizzie and Danny move into their first flat together, the established couple Arlene and Alan return with a hangover from a celebration of their wedding day spent in a 5-star hotel, the two coaches Nick and Pam wake up hoping that it has finally worked out …
And then it goes boom! And it becomes clear – they are having (no) baby. But what now? Child? Yes or no? If yes, when? And if it doesn’t work out, what then? With music that combines different styles, Baby tells of the normal madness that sets in when a couple becomes pregnant.
The Masterclass in the Silbersaal
Since 2015, we have been presenting the Masterclass in the Silbersaal together with the August Everding Theatre Academy. In plays such as Into The Woods, Heirat’ mich ein bisschen, John & Jen, the in-house production Palast des Lächelns and last year’s Der kleine Horrorladen, the graduates of the Master’s degree programme in Musical can demonstrate their skills and the audience gets a first glimpse of the musical stars of tomorrow.
