The Original Live On Tour

Sunday: 2.30pm und 7pm
The exciting dance finally continues!
Dirty Dancing, the enchanting love story between the sheltered teenager Francis “Baby” Houseman and the idolised dancer Johnny Castle, has not only made film history. The soundtrack also became a million-seller with songs like “Hungry Eyes”, “She’s Like The Wind” and of course “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life”. And the stage version of the cult film is also an absolute crowd puller: Since its premiere in 2004, more than 10 million spectators worldwide have already been swept away by the play. Now Dirty Dancing – The Original Live on Tour returns to our stage in a brand new and contemporary adaptation.
From cult film to live event
The story of Baby and Johnny was penned by the well-known writer, screenwriter, producer and director Eleanor Bergstein. Dirty Dancing was released in 1987 and soon achieved blockbuster and cult film status. The soundtrack became one of the best-selling albums of all time, selling over 32 million records, and the song “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” won an Oscar and a Grammy.
The film’s fascination with audiences inspired Bergstein to develop a stage version. After its first performance in Sydney in 2004, the play conquered London’s West End in 2006. From then on, the live show’s worldwide triumph was unstoppable. Since 2014, the German production by successful director Alex Balga (Miami Nights, Saturday Night Fever, Dracula, among others) has been causing a stir in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with over 900,000 viewers.
Dirty Dancing – The Original Live on Tour brings the legendary look of the film to life with its elaborate stage design. Over fifty songs accompany the first glances, advances and touches between Baby and Johnny at Kellerman’s holiday resort. Balga has authentically staged the plot and the characters: 27 performers transform themselves into entertainers, waiters or hotel guests and dance to mambo, merengue and Cuban rhythms.
