Delightfully Creepy Musical Comedy
After Viktor Frankenstein delighted our Silbersaal (Silver Hall) in the musical premiere Frankenstein in 2021, his grandson Friederich now conquers our big stage in 2022. The musical comedy Young Frankenstein is based on the film of the same name by Mel Brooks and its screenplay, which he wrote together with leading actor Gene Wilder.
The Plot
Victor Frankenstein, the mad scientist of legend, has died and left everything to his grandson, Frederick, who wants nothing to do with the family’s notorious legacy. To settle his inheritance, he travels to his grandfather’s castle in Transylvania. Before long, Frederick is sucked into his grandfather’s experiments and with the help of hunchback servant Igor, lab assistant Inga and the fearsome Frau Blücher succeeds in creating human life. Will he repeat the mistakes of his grandfather? Or will he succeed where the others have not? A hilarious take on the classic horror story, combining zany antics, a witty script, and high energy comedic performances for one unforgettable, hilarious adventure in Transylvania.

A New Production
After productions such as Tommy, The Hound of the Baskervilles, Cabaret and Sweeney Todd, we are continuing our successful collaboration with the English Theatre Frankfurt with Young Frankenstein. The new production of the musical celebrated its premiere at the beginning of December. As with Sweeney Todd, the director was Derek Anderson, and Mal Hall was once again responsible for the musical direction.
