A Gala Evening Presented by the Munich Turmschreiber

Curtains up for an exceptional evening: This year, the 2026 Bavarian Poetentaler awards will be presented in the Silbersaal. This year, the Munich Turmschreiber are honoring cabaret artist and wordsmith Willy Astor, author Rita Falk, music producer Manfred Eicher, and writer Gunna Wendt.

The award ceremony will take place during a lively and colorful gala, featuring not only the honorees but also other new Turmschreiber members such as Jürgen Bulla, Heike Haas, Heike Nieder, and Fridolin Schley. The Munich-based musical duo Burgmayr & Reiserer will provide the musical entertainment. The award—also referred to by the press as the “Bavarian Pour le mérite”—has been presented annually since 1961 by the Munich Turmschreiber to individuals and institutions that have rendered outstanding service to art and culture in Bavaria. Previous recipients include Marieluise Fleißer, Eugen Roth, Ernst Hoferichter, Gert Heidenreich, Michael Ende, Ottfried Preußler, Janosch, Konstantin Wecker, Haindling, Fredl Fesl, Dieter Hildebrandt, Bruno Jonas, Gerhard Polt, Biermösl Blosn, Frank M. Barwasser (Pelzig), Werner Herzog, Marcus H. Rosenmüller, and many others.
