TRIO SFERA “Verschwiegene Lieder”

Classical and Jazz in a New Listening Format

With *Verschwiegene Lieder*, the Trio Sfera embarks on a journey into uncharted realms. Rooted in classical music, the three musicians playfully transcend stylistic boundaries. They are guided by a curiosity about how new aesthetic landscapes can emerge from form and sound. For many years, they accompanied singer Konstantin Wecker as a live ensemble at his concerts. However, they have long since established themselves as an independent instrumental ensemble and now stand on their own as a trio.

Musical Diversity

In their hands, Kurt Weill’s “Youkali” transforms into a dreamy, flowing tango-habanera. Richard Strauss’s “Morgen” resounds as a tender ballad—bright and fragile, yet full of hope. Franz Schubert’s “Hungarian Melody” dances light-footedly in the arrangement for clarinet and cello. Cheerfulness and melancholy alternate—a floating dance of two souls in harmony. In works such as “Tu Madre” and “Canción y Danza,” the trio delves into the Sephardic and Spanish musical traditions. These new interpretations reflect a longing for lightness and deep insight.

Both in their arrangements of works by renowned masters and in their own compositions, the Trio Sfera creates highly distinctive tone poems. The music unfolds in a new, unexpected dimension—fragile and powerful at the same time. Like a ray of light groping its way through the darkness. The sonic diversity and the art of improvisation have become the unmistakable hallmarks of Trio Sfera.
