A dance monument for two exceptional artists
The contemporary dance show Star Dust – From Bach to David Bowie consists of two individual pieces: Star Dust is a tribute to Pop-icon David Bowie. The 16 exceptional dancers ignite a dance explosion with their unprecedented expressiveness and brilliance, as colouful and intoxicating as the monumental artist himself. In Bach 25, the company shows the full range of their skills to the music of the great Baroque master Johann Sebastian Bach; songs by his son Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach complete the multi-layered sound.
Iridescent homage to David Bowie
„There is a bit of Bowie in all of us“, choreographer Dwight Rhoden is certain. Dance perfection and elegance combine naturally with hits like „Changes“, „Life On Mars“, „Heroes“ and „Space Oddity“ in this flamboyant homage. Typical Bowie-elements like the Glam Rock-inspired costumes, the extravagant make-up and the artfully elaborate lighting desing complete the diverse overall impression.
The Complexions Contemporary Ballet
In July 2019, the Complexions Contemporary Ballet celebrated its German premiere on our stage – now they’re back! The ensemble was founded in New York in 1994 by Dwight Rhoden and Desmond Richardson. Both are former solo dancers of the renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre.
The Complexions Contemporary Ballet stands for an uncompromising mixture of techniques, styles and cultural influences. Their performances have led the ensemble to the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and the Melbourne Arts Center, amongst others. Their numerous awards include a New York Times Critics‘ Choice Award.
