die SCHREIB:MASCHINE – Neue Ideen für neue Musicals
Deutsches Theater München is presenting a production by the Deutsches Musical Akademie e.V.
Musicals in Their Raw Form
SCHREIB:MASCHINE is Germany’s only open stage for musical writers and composers. Here, experienced creatives meet new, up-and-coming voices in the scene—and present early, still-raw drafts of what could be the next hit productions. In the Silbersaal, they showcase brand-new stage material for the first time.
The Diversity of the Musical Scene
The stage is open to anyone who is dedicated to the musical genre with professional standards and wishes to try out new material in front of an audience. In a single evening, this offers insights into four to six very different works—and thus into the impressive diversity of the German-language musical scene. The presentations typically take the form of staged readings with piano accompaniment: focused, immediate, and closely tied to the creative process.
A Space for Exchange
During the intermission and after the show, the Silbersaal becomes a gathering place: a space for exchange, feedback, new encounters—and for the next shared ideas.
Since 2015, the Open Stage has been presented by the German Musical Academy. Since 2019, SCHREIB:MASCHINE has also been held regularly in other German-speaking cities, including Hamburg, Cologne, Vienna, and Linz.
