Europe’s most successful poetry project celebrates its 20th anniversary! Since 2001, the Rilke Project has brought Schönherz & Fleer not only three gold awards, but also numerous celebrated live performances, with the participation of their top-class band as well as prominent speakers such as Ben Becker, Jürgen Prochnow, Robert Stadlober, Nina Hoger, Edo Zanki, Ralf Bauer or Max Mutzke. This year, the project is also making a guest appearance in Munich and we can once again look forward to outstanding guests. The poetry project, which always has a prominent cast, conveys timeless poems in a highly poetic way, recited by Nina Hoger, Ralf Bauer and Dietmar Bär, accompanied by specially composed music.
On tour with new album
In addition to Angelica Fleer and Richard Schönherz, the “das ist die SEHNSUCHT” tour in September and October 2022 will feature “regular guests” Nina Hoger and Ralf Bauer, as well as special guest actor Dietmar Bär, who has been investigating crime scenes in Cologne for many years. As always, the protagonists are accompanied by a strong band. The composer duo Schönherz and Fleer have also been able to recruit prominent artists for the new album. They interpret a total of 18 texts by Rainer Maria Rilke over diversely arranged contemporary productions. This time they are joined by Désirée Nosbusch, Reinhard Mey, Frida Gold & Cassandra Steen, Dietmar Bär, Julia Engelmann, Peter Simonischek, Felicitas Woll, Pasquale Aleardi and Ben Becker.
In addition to classical music poetry recordings, Richard Schönherz and Angelica Fleer have also developed three songs from their Rilke fund, impressively sung by Reinhard Mey, Frida Gold & Cassandra Steen and Pasquale Aleardi. With the wonderful “LIEBES-LIED” – interpreted by Frida Gold in duet with Cassandra Steen there is for the first time in the Rilke project history also a real pre-single to the album, which was already released at the beginning of November.
From string tercet to hip hop
“Longing is a big theme, and love – we think right now THE big themes for quite a lot of people currently after this extraordinary time,” sums up Angelica Fleer about the facets and moods of the sixth album. The incomparable poetry of Rilke encounters a broad musical spectrum on this album, ranging from the classical string tercet to contemporary, rolling hip-hop beats. “Rilke is simply inexhaustible,” enthuses Richard Schönherz, originally from Vienna, when reporting on the creation phase of the latest album, which was “once again a very intense and moving process. “We keep discovering new texts by him… the letters alone are a huge field in which to lose oneself,” adds his partner Angelica Fleer. Her joy at the latest finds from the inexhaustible Rilke oeuvre is written all over her face: “We’ve found that you’re always re-reading Rilke, discovering new aspects,” she says, “and so you find so many new treasures during the research that you have to sort them out again.”
