You recognise good music when it is still effective and touching, reduced to the essential. You know a good musician when he can create this feeling all by himself on stage. Richard Marx and his songs can do both. He already proved this impressively at a performance in Munich’s Tonhalle over ten years ago. In September, we are looking forward to presenting the likeable superstar on our stage. He will certainly have one or two new songs from his album “Songwriter”, which will be released on 30 September, in his luggage.
Solo – Acoustic – Up Close
Fans can look forward to an unforgettable evening in which the Chicago native will present his great hits in a very intimate way: solo, acoustic and up close! As an artist, songwriter and producer, Richard Marx’s three-decade career has had countless highlights and has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. Starting with his self-titled debut, which entered the Top 10 charts and included four Top 5 singles such as the mega-hit “Hold On To The Nights”. “Don’t Mean Nothing” also earned a Grammy nomination in the category “Best Male Rock Vocal Performance”.
On the road to success
The follow-up, 1989’s Repeat Offender, was even more successful at No. 1 and also made it to the top of the charts with two – “Satisfied” and “Right Here Waiting”. The artist also remained on the road to success at full throttle with the albums “Rush Street” and “Paid Vacation” with the number one hits “Keep Coming Back”, “Hazard” and “Now and Forever”. Both long players went platinum. To date, Richard Marx is the only male artist in music history to have his first seven singles in the Top 5 of the Billboard charts.
A new chapter
To mark the 30th anniversary of his album Repeat Offender (originally released on 26 April 1989), Marx has “Repeat Offender Revisited” on BMG in 2019. The album is a new collection of re-recorded studio songs, as well as live and acoustic versions of songs from the original album. To kick off the release, Marx presented a new video for his global hit “Right Here Waiting”, featuring live footage from various performances of the song over the past 30 years. In addition, several catalogue tracks were digitally re-released. “I’m really happy to be working with the people at BMG for the next chapter of my career, and I can’t wait for people to hear all the new music I’ve been working on,” he said. With “Limitless”, Richard Marx finally released a new studio album in 2020, also on BMG, which will now be followed by “Songwriter” on 30 September.
