A New Story for the Anniversary

It’s hard to believe: In 2026, little Rabe Socke will celebrate his 30th birthday! To mark the anniversary, Esslinger Verlag is publishing a brand-new comic book story featuring the cheeky raven. The Bielefeld Chamber Puppet Theater is taking on the exclusive stage adaptation and will present “Rabe Socke – Best Friends Again” in the Silbersaal for children ages 3 and up. The new story explores themes that children know all too well: friendship, arguments, and reconciliation.

For Friendship

What starts as harmless fun between Socke and his best friend Löffel turns into a full-blown conflict. The two get into a heated argument, and suddenly a major fight is brewing. Furious, Socke hatches the craziest plans to get back at Löffel. In doing so, however, he goes way too far and doesn’t realize at first just how much he’s hurting his friend.

It’s only when Löffel becomes sad and withdraws that Socke begins to understand what’s at stake. He realizes that friendship is more important than being right. Now he does everything he can to regain his best friend’s trust. But can he make up for the damage he’s caused?

An Important Message for Children

With plenty of situational comedy, fast-paced action, and the endearing characters from the well-known children’s book series, this new anniversary story explores the challenges children face every day. In an accessible and age-appropriate way, the production conveys an important message: Arguments are a natural part of any friendship. What matters isn’t whether you argue once in a while, but how you treat each other afterward.

Young theatergoers, in particular, will come to realize that it takes courage to reach out to one another, admit mistakes, and offer a sincere apology. The story shows that reconciliation is possible when both sides are willing to listen to each other and reach out again. The result is a narrative that is as entertaining as it is touching—one about solidarity, trust, and friendship.
