BALL SEASON 2024
Finally! It’s time to dance and party again. From February 19, our Theatersaal will once again be transformed into a beautiful ballroom – together with the Silbersaal, Foyer and Barocksaal, the theater will once again become Munich’s largest and most beautiful ballroom. A total of 10 balls will take place from January 19 to February 12.
The big Narrhalla Ball
Soirée Munich Life
At the big soirée of the Munich carnival society Narrhalla, the carnival prince and princess of the state capital traditionally present themselves with the Prince Waltz and the glamorous dance show of the Narrhalla Prinzengarde and the guard dance of the flag regiment. The highlight of the evening is once again the presentation of the Karl Valentin Order, which is awarded every year for the most humorous or enigmatic remark in the spirit of Karl Valentin. The 2024 winner is the duo Heißmann & Rassau.
Pasión de Baile
You have to celebrate the festivals as they fall. And if you already have artists from Cuba in town for the Pasión de Buena Vista show, the idea of incorporating them into a ball is an obvious one. That’s why, in cooperation with Munich dancer and dance teacher Laura del Vecchio, we are presenting the Pasión de Baile salsa ball for the first time in 2024. In addition to excerpts from the Pasión de Buena Vista concert show, which you can of course also dance to, there will be much more live music, workshops by and with Laura del Vecchio and a colorful supporting program.
Munich Dance Night
Joint project of the Munich dance schools
The Munich dance schools invite all dance enthusiasts to a glittering night full of music and dance! There really is something for every dancer’s heart at this joint project – because all our rooms and spaces open their doors at the same time on this evening: Waltz, foxtrot, rock’n’roll, salsa and much more will be danced to great live bands in the Theatersaal, Silbersaal and the foyer. A hearty “Weißwursthimmel” with no less hearty mood and party music will take care of your physical well-being. The Munich Dance Night is rounded off by a varied show program and the traditional Munich Francaise at midnight.

Gaudeamus-Ball
Ball of the Catholic Corporations
Perhaps the youngest audience dances at the Gaudeamus Ball. On this evening, the Catholic Corporations celebrate the largest academics’ ball in the Deutsches Theater. Of course, the ball is also open to everyone – young and old. Experience a glittering ball night with the best entertainment and lively dance music. The Bavarian Minister of the Interior Joachim Herrmann will once again be the traditional patron of this evening in 2024. Michael Reinfelder will host the evening with his usual charm.

Kids Carnival
Party for the whole family
Cowboys and pirates meet princesses, magicians and many other characters. The children’s carnival at the Deutsches Theater is a colorful and exciting event. We are looking forward to the fun games, exciting performances and cheerful music that have already delighted the little fools in previous years. As every year, entertainers will guide you through the foolish afternoon. They have lots of fun dances and games to make the carnival fly by for children up to the age of 10. Meanwhile, parents can relax at the tables and watch the clowns, Pippi Longstocking and elephants. At the end, the children dance in a shower of confetti. An absolute highlight!
ball total
Art and culinary delights
Spectacular shows, lively dance music and exquisite cuisine: this colorful mix is the recipe for success at ball total, which the Deutsches Theater is hosting together with the GOP Varieté-Theater for the twelfth time. In 2024, guests can once again look forward to thrilling flights of fancy, as both theaters will of course be performing: the GOP Varieté-Theater will be presenting dizzying acrobatic acts with selected artists. And around midnight, excerpts from the current program “Wilderness”. Our musical fans can look forward to the first and exclusive excerpts from the brand new production of “Magic Flute” by Frank Nimsgern. And of course you will also have the opportunity to shake a leg yourself on this evening.
Rock that Swing Ball
The big party for the festival
The Rock That Swing Ball is the first of two balls at the Rock That Swing Festival. Live bands from all over the world and various DJs will make for an unforgettable evening. Be inspired by dancers at the Lindy Hop Cup and the Balboa & Shag Battle as they compete for the audience’s favor. Experience the rousing Vintage Dance Show of Champions. Before the live music begins, guests can take part in a swing dance taster course and choose between an introductory dance course in Boogie Woogie, Lindy Hop, Rockabilly Jive and Shag. The instructors will teach you a few steps of each dance so that you can have fun on the dance floor with the other Hep Cats during the evening.
Jamboree Ball
With a big jamboree revue
The Jamboree Ball is the second evening event and the highlight of the Rock That Swing Festival. Don’t miss this unique evening! International live bands, various DJs and the big Jamboree Revue will make for an unforgettable evening. In two beautiful ballrooms and on two additional dance floors, the 20s to 50s will be brought back to the here and now. Experience the exuberant feeling of the golden 20s through the swinging 30s and 40s to the wild 50s: a rousing evening with elegant people and a cool attitude, dressed up in vintage clothes, petticoats or suits. Our rooms provide the perfect setting for this great evening of music, dancing, shows and tournaments.
089 Kult
089 Kult – Carnival party on Shrove Monday
A real Munich carnival party, just as Monaco Franze would have loved it as Lord of the Seven Seas or Charly from the Münchner G’schichtn. On Shrove Monday, we’ll be going all out and celebrating the premiere of 089 KULT. Together with the radio station of the same name, we are presenting two absolute originals from our beautiful city as star guests: the Spider Murphy Gang and Willy Michl. The Cagey Strings, Roland Hefter and the band Los Poppos will also provide music and atmosphere. Cabaret artist Moses Wolff will also be joining the party with a very special heavenly interlude.
Dress code: Somehow and anyway from Münchner G’schichtn to Monaco Franze
