About Bavarian motherly love
Oskar Maria Graf’s masterpiece “Das Leben meiner Mutter” (My Mother’s Life) is not only a lovingly vivid portrait of his mother, but also the story of all our Bavarian mothers and grandmothers. Resl Heimrath spent her life in the countryside near Lake Starnberg and witnessed the reign of Ludwig II, the Industrial Revolution, World War I, and Hitler’s rise to power. Actress Angela Ascher, known from film and television, is passionate about bringing this story to the public.
Contemporary works
Experience the chronicle of village life as an atmospheric interplay between Angela Asher’s reading and the musical performance of pianist Maharani Chakrabarti on the grand piano. Works from that period by composers such as Bruckner, Mahler, and Wagner will be performed. You will also hear the premiere of piano pieces by Dorothea Hoffmann, which she recomposed after reading Graf’s novel.
The Musical Salon
A fresh, contemporary concert format that delights audiences and the press alike: pianist Maharani Chakrabarti curates and hosts exciting themed evenings featuring performances by top-class guest artists. Udo Wachtveitl, Jutta Speidel, and Julian Nida-Rümelin, among others, have already been part of the salon, as have first-class musicians. Music, literature, history, and philosophy come together in cross-genre themes. The audience can enjoy the performances with a drink in the magnificent ambience of the Silver Hall.
