Deutsches Theater München presents an event by Manfred Hertlein Entertainment GmbH
This event is in the past.
heart-rending – musical – adventurous
The story of the orphan boy Oliver Twist is world-famous. Many have read the novel by Charles Dickens at school, others have seen a film adaptation or a stage play. An English theater version that has been successful for 20 years has now been turned into a German musical and is celebrating its premiere in the Silbersaal just in time for Christmas. Look forward to an exciting and touching play with Theresa Mandlik, Michael Mantaj, Eva Regan, Gareth Davis, Tanja Maria Froidl and Oliver Polenz.
Thrilling crime story
The orphan Oliver Twist grows up in miserable conditions in the poorhouse. He flees from hunger and poverty to London to try his luck there. But the big city has nothing good in store for him either, as he falls into the clutches of pickpockets led by the gang leader Fagin. During a robbery, he meets Lord Brownlow, who takes him into his house out of kindness. But the gang uses a trick to regain control over Oliver. In the end, the orphan discovers the extraordinary secret of his origins. And as this is Dickens, there is no shortage of British humour in the midst of the drama.
A six-part Musical
The author and director Paul Stebbings received the MBE Order of Queen Elizabeth in 2014 for his services to British culture. Together with British composer Thomas Johnson, Stebbings wrote a theatre version of Oliver Twist 20 years ago, which has since been exported to over 15 countries. Together with the musician and composer Christian Auer, the talented trio created the musical version with six-part vocal movements, which are now being performed in German for the first time.
