The Driving Force Behind Hard Bop

Guido May and Laura Wachter will spend an evening introducing the music and life of drummer Art Blakey. Throughout his career, he was a key figure in hard bop, an energetic evolution of bebop. He became particularly well-known for his band, the Jazz Messengers. With this band, he not only nurtured many talents but also helped them achieve fame.
