Grimm’s Fairy Tale World Turned Upside Down

“Once upon a time in a faraway land…” – That’s how every fairy tale begins. Rapunzel lets down her hair, the prince kisses the princess awake, and in the end, good triumphs over evil. But how would the story end if Rapunzel cared more about the perfect selfie than the perfect man, the rival princes ultimately chose each other over the princess, and the villains decided they were no longer willing to play the role of scapegoats?

Fairy Tales 2.0

With their song cycle *Alles Märchen!*, Ralf Rühmeier and Michael Bellmann transport the Grimm universe into the present day, turning the well-known stories upside down in the process. In parodic short episodes, the five performers give voice to some 30 fairy-tale characters in our modern world. Following the concert premiere in 2016, the Musical Masterclass of the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding is now bringing this musical comedy to the stage of the Silbersaal for the first time.

Musical Stars of Tomorrow

For over ten years, the Master’s program in Musical Theater at the Bavarian Theater Academy August Everding has been presenting unique productions at the Deutsches Theater. In the “Masterclass in the Silbersaal” series, not only do graduates showcase their talents, but innovative concepts and creative approaches to staging are also tested in the historic spaces. In this way, the musical genre has already been reimagined with productions such as Into the Woods, Marry Me a Little, John & Jen, The Palace of Smiles, The Little Shop of Horrors, Baby, Elise & Paul, and The Toxic Avenger.
