Jesus Christ Superstar in Concert
Deutsches Theater München is staging a production by Perman Productions
The story of Easter in a rock version
This legendary rock opera by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber is, without exaggeration, a milestone in the history of musical theatre. Since its premiere in 1971, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has thrilled millions of audiences worldwide – and has lost none of its fascination to this day. Tim Rice’s lyrics are based on liturgy and, together with the unmistakable music, immerse the audience in the life of Jesus of Nazareth in a highly emotional way.
Revival of a dream team
In 2026, popular stars Drew Sarich and Serkan Kaya will celebrate a reunion in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR after many years. Lukas Perman’s scenic concert version focuses strongly on the musical and emotional dimensions of this masterpiece. Drew Sarich has been celebrated in a wide variety of productions for his role as Jesus, which seems tailor-made for him and his voice. The American has been based in Europe for many years and is internationally renowned for numerous leading roles in German-speaking countries as well as for his performances on the West End and Broadway.
First-class cast
The role of the antagonist Judas is played by musical and TV star Serkan Kaya. Musical theatre audiences will remember him best as the legendary Lucheni in Elisabeth, Galileo in We Will Rock You and Udo in Hinterm Horizont. In recent years, he has made a name for himself as an actor and TV and series star on German television and has received numerous awards, including the Grimme Prize and the German Acting Award 2021. The two lead actors and the cast are accompanied by an 11-piece live band.
