In the Spirit of Django
Gypsy music at its finest
Gypsy jazz has a new name: Gismo Graf! At just 30 years of age, he can already look back on a fabulous career with numerous concerts and tours worldwide as well as four album productions to date, and has already taken a leading position as a guitarist in the gypsy and jazz scene. With charisma and youthful charm, he continues the tradition that Joschi Graf—Gismo’s father, mentor, and ensemble colleague—instilled in him from birth: the rousing style of playing in the spirit of the great Django Reinhardt
Innovative and contemporary
Gismo Graf is one of the young wild ones who, with sensitive respect for the past, give gypsy jazz a contemporary face.
With his innovative playing style, he effortlessly combines a wide variety of genres such as jazz, pop, swing, bossa nova, and more, appealing to contemporary tastes. And not just among die-hard jazz fans! What once began with a young shooting star has now, after 12 years, established itself as an integral part of the international gypsy jazz scene.
A trio that wants to surprise
Together with Joel Locher on double bass and Joschi Graf on rhythm guitar, they work continuously on new material, driven by an unbroken urge for perfection, so that no two concerts are alike. At no point does the listener get the feeling that they are witnessing a random string of songs. Instead, the trio manages to surprise the audience with each new piece and to thrill even those in the back rows with their relaxed stage presence and enthusiasm.
