The singing landlord says thank you
On the occasion of his 30th anniversary as a singing Schlager landlord and cult icon, Günther Grauer talks about his musical career. The three-part evening is peppered with video clips, exciting stories, current Schlager hits and his greatest successes such as “Bavarian Dream” and “Auszieh’n”. The anniversary concerts are a musical way for the charming cult singer and entertainer to say thank you to his guests.
From the kitchen to the pop stage
It is now 30 years since Günther Grauer opened his first restaurant near Lake Starnberg. At the regulars’ table back then, he used to perform funny renditions of songs and the guests sang along at the top of their voices. When a friend got married in his inn wearing all white, he had the idea of joining the band in his white chef’s clothes and opening the wedding. By chance, a music producer was among the guests, who soon recorded the first pop CD “Gemütlichkeit kennt keine Grenzen” with him. From then on, the country inn was filled to capacity every day and everyone wanted to hear the “singing landlord from Lake Starnberg”.
This was followed by stage and television appearances on pop shows throughout Germany. With the duo “Geschwister Pfundig” with Petra Perle, he landed feel-good hits such as “Schatzi”, the scandalous party song “Auszieh’n” and also produced the world’s biggest bread dumpling. Günther Grauer then performed for many years as a solo artist alongside big stars at Bar Bistro Roy, where he also took over the management in 2001. Most recently, the singing landlord released “Das Starnberger See Lied” as a musical thank you to his guests.
With hits from Udo Jürgens to DJ Ötzi
Günther Grauer divides his anniversary show into three parts: “How it all began…”, “The 90s” and “Famous hits”. He tells funny anecdotes and sings his greatest hits such as “Gemütlichkeit kennt keine Grenzen”, the King Ludwig II. Hymne “Bavarian Dream – Ein bayerischer Traum” and “Auszieh’n”. He also performs a 70s medley, songs by Udo Jürgens, Roland Kaiser and DJ Ötzi. Film clips are a constant reminder of old times and bring the atmosphere of the Schlager steamer or the regulars’ table in the country inn directly into the Silbersaal.
It means a lot to me that I can look back on my last 30 years as a host, as a singing landlord so to speak, on stage. (Günther Grauer)
