FANTASTIC FILM AS A GREAT MUSICAL
The film Ghost – Message from Sam inspired a whole generation in the 90s and brought a legendary trio to the screen with Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg. In the musical of the same name, the moving story about a devious murder and the power of true love has lost none of its magic. And what’s more, it is made even more emotional by the great songs.
THE ACT
As in the film, the musical tells the story of sculptor Molly, who finally wants to hear those three famous words: “I love you”. But they do not pass her lips to her boyfriend, the banker Sam. A sneaky robbery destroys the happiness of the two – Sam dies and leaves Molly behind, who from then on has to learn to live on without her great love. Sam, however, is still with her and wanders through New York City as a ghost, initially unable to intervene in the events. Dismayed, he realises that a great conspiracy is behind his death and that Molly is in great danger. To protect Molly, he must find out who is really responsible for his death.
STAGING AND MUSIC
Fascinating special effects, a rousing soundtrack and one of the greatest love stories of all time give the audience goose bumps in Ghost – The Musical. One reason for this, besides the stage design, a perfect cast and great ideas for transferring the film to the stage, is of course the music by Glen Ballard and Dave Stewart. While Ballard has worked as a producer and songwriter with greats like Michael Jackson, Alanis Morissette, Anastacia and Tom Jones, Dave Steward became world famous as part of the pop duo Eurithmics. Eleven years after its Broadway premiere, Ghost – The Musical comes to Munich in a gripping new production. The dialogue and song lyrics – with the exception of “Unchained Melody” from the film soundtrack – have been translated into German for this production.
