Frau Julia sucht das große Glück
Deutsche Theater München is hosting
Between Tinder longing and love obsession
What happens when a hopelessly romantic woman with a penchant for self-analysis sets out to find true happiness? Julia Hitzenberger invites you to the Silbersaal for an atmospheric journey that begins where small talk ends. From the depths of Munich’s online dating scene to promising nights in Paris and spiritual misadventures in India, Julia dissects the longings of our time—where it hurts and where it gets really funny.
Pure, personal, and versatile
With just her guitar and her enormous presence, Julia single-handedly creates entire worlds. In this intense mixture of musical cabaret and solo theater, she slips masterfully into different roles—sometimes as a dazzling femme fatale, sometimes as a sharp-tongued psychoanalyst, or sometimes as a Bavarian cis man with commitment issues.
Julia sings against frustration with her expressive voice, interprets chansons and well-known songs with a new twist, and reveals those inner monologues that we all know but prefer to keep secret. An emotional rollercoaster ride – funny, touching, and disarmingly honest. An evening for the Tinder generation, their parents, and anyone who has ever searched, hoped, or loved.
Julia Hitzenberger
A Munich native with roots in Lower Bavaria and a head full of stories from Paris, Italy, and Vienna: Julia Hitzenberger studied humanity where there are no masks—between beer benches at the Hofbräuhaus, Indian ashrams, and the daily madness of being a teacher in the daycare center.
On stage, she combines these experiences into a multi-layered whole: with her guitar and expressive voice, she bridges the gap between vintage chansons of the 1920s and her own modern songs. With the trained eye of a therapist, she looks at everything that drives us humans – and laughs with a great deal of self-irony, preferably at
herself.
