Denis Wittberg & seine Schellack Solisten
Revival of the Golden Twenties
Denis Wittberg is the most stylish seducer since the Roaring Twenties. Charming, ironic, and sophisticated, he and his shellac soloists guide us through the music of the 1920s and 1930s, through the Berlin of the Golden Twenties with its dance halls and variety shows, when Walter Jurmann, Peter Kreuder, and Robert Gilbert were still writing the top hits of the season.
Enjoyable hours
The mood is always cheerful with the mostly well-known cabaret hits and couplets of the 1920s and 1930s, because some of them are very clever behind the lyrics. Experience hits and couplets from the 1920s and 1930s by well-known lyricists and composers such as Otto Reuter, Friedrich Holländer, Rudolf Nelson, and Fritz Rotter. The contrast between the stylishly dressed singer and the highly humorous lyrics creates a unique kind of understated humor.
Stylish and relaxed
To this day, Denis Wittberg and his shellac soloists give guest performances throughout Germany and delight their audiences not only with hits from the 1920s and 1930s. They have also recorded hits from the repertoire of the Neue Deutsche Welle (New German Wave) of the early 1980s as if they had been written in the 1920s. Funny, but by no means silly or outdated, stylish and relaxed – that’s what the musicians around Wittberg stand for.
