Das NEINhorn

From children’s book to stage play

The books about Das NEINhorn have been a hit since 2019 and top all the bestseller lists. Astrid Henn and Marc-Uwe Kling, who has enjoyed cult status as an author ever since “The Kangaroo Chronicles” at the very latest, have written a funny and cheeky children’s book. It’s about a unicorn that breaks free from its cotton-candy world and from then on does exactly as it pleases. The Junges Theater Bonn is staging the story for children aged 4 and over.

Colourful, but stubborn

In the Heart Forest, a tiny, cute little unicorn is born. But although everyone is ever so sweet to it and constantly feeds it sugared lucky clover, the little creature doesn’t behave like a unicorn at all. It simply always says ‘No’, so its family soon start calling it ‘NO-horn’.

One day, the NO-horn breaks out of its cotton-candy world. It meets the WHAT-bear, a raccoon who won’t listen, the DON’T-dog, who really couldn’t care less, and then the King’s DAUGHTER, a princess who’s always talking back. The four of them make a pretty good team. Because even being stubborn is much more fun when you’re together!

A play with plenty of music

The Junges Theater Bonn (JTB) is staging the story of the NEINhorn as a play featuring plenty of music. It was written by Marc Schubring, composer of many successful musicals. Bernard Niemeyer is directing the production on a set designed by Katha Kastner.

Marc-Uwe Kling

The author, singer-songwriter, cabaret artist and performer Marc-Uwe Kling has been best known since 2009 for his “Kangaroo Chronicles”. Born in Stuttgart, he has received numerous awards, including the German Audiobook Prize. He has also been writing children’s books since 2015.
