Das ist Wahnsinn back in Munich

You can look forward to a fireworks display of emotions when the music of Wolfgang Petry returns to ourstage in 2020. Das ist Wahnsinn! – The Musical with the Hits by Wolfgang Petry is the first party-pop-musical of the world. A show to have fun and to experience a story with great feelings, about friendship and family and the ups and downs of youth, of growing up – of life as it is – simply: An emotional, humorous and turbulent story, embedded in more than 25 hits by Wolfgang Petry, such as „Verlieben, verloren, vergessen, verzeih’n“, „Der Himmel brennt“, „Weiß der Geier“, „Du bist ein Wunder“, „Ganz oder gar nicht“, „Bronze, Silber und Gold“, „Sieben Tage, sieben Nächte“, „Gianna”, „Nur ein kleines Stück Papier“ and, of course, the title song “Wahnsinn”.

THE GREATEST HITS OF WOLFGANG PETRY

More than 15 years ago Wolfgang Petry left the great stages of this world to stay out of the public eye. His musical oeuvre is nevertheless still omnipresent. His fast rhythms and striking song texts lighten up every party. With more than 20 million records sold, he is and remains one of the most successful German interpreters and songwriters ever. The longing of his fans for live experiences with his songs is unabated. In September 2016 “Wolle” celebrated his 65th birthday, which led the creators of Das ist Wahnsinn! to make him a special present: Wolfgang Petry’s songs make their way back to the great stage! The brand new musical presents the greatest successes of the pop giant on a theatre stage. After premiering in Duisburg and guest starring in Berlin it celebrated its Bavarian premiere in Munich in May 2018.

Four couples – just like you and me – experience a rollercoaster of emotions through the everyday relationship insanities. TOP-CLASS CREATIVE TEAM

The story full of heart and rhythm set in the middle of Ruhr district, was written by the two renowned authors Martin Lingnau and Heiko Wohlgemuth. The successful team has already shown its extraordinary quality to develop great musicals when creating “Heiße Ecke”, “Der Schuh des Manitu” or “Das Wunder von Bern”. With more than 5 million visitors seeing the ten musicals they have created until now, the two are the most successful musical authors of their generation. Gil Mehmert (“Das Wunder von Bern”, among others) is the director and Sebastian de Domenico takes over the musical direction.

Wolfgang Petry was continually involved in the process of creating the artwork and is, apart from the millions of fans, probably the one most excited to see how his party hits pass the test on the musical stage. When attending one of the first workshops for the show the star was evidently touched: “I did not know what to expect, but I think it’s fantastic, what they created with my music. I laughed, I even cried and I am enthralled.”
