A Bavarian Slap in the Face

After three sold-out performances in the spring of 2026, the Landstorf Ensemble is returning to the Silbersaal with a new play. This time, the story revolves around the “Watschnbaum.” In Bavaria, it’s usually patient. But if you provoke it too much and make it angry, the Watschnbaum might just fall over. This serves as a call to troublemakers to stop constantly speaking out against or complaining about everything and everyone. It’s a bad habit that’s widespread here. Peter Landstorfer’s Bavarian comedy tackles the topic in a humorous way. In it, the Landstorfer Ensemble presents a solution that’s actually very simple but practical.

The Landstorfer Ensemble

In 1983, Peter Landstorfer founded the Landstorfer Ensemble with friends who shared his passion for theater—some of whom are still active members today. The group performed Bavarian farces and comedies by well-known authors at the Waldwirtschaft Großhesselohe. In 1986, the group wanted to get a taste of city life again, so they moved to a new venue in the Hirschgarten and changed their name accordingly. Two years later, “Die Bühne im Hirschgarten” staged its first original play, written by Peter Landstorfer. Since then, a new Landstorfer play has had its world premiere every year, and Peter’s works are now among the most frequently performed in all of Bavaria. At the same time, the group regularly performs as a guest troupe on other stages, such as in Bayrischzell, Miesbach, Landshut, and the Wildschönau region, and in 2020 even at the Bayerischer Rundfunk’s Komödienstadel with the play “Da Austrags-Schwindel.”
