The Deutsches Theater München presents a production by OFFstage Germany e.V.
On the eighth day God created Boygroups
The musical comedy Altar Boyz about a fictive Catholic boyband was one of the most successful productions on Off-Broadway. Now, we present the exciting piece with catchy tunes and nifty choreographies in Munich for the very first time. Altar Boyz is a concert in a show and vice versa, unbelievably funny and profound at the same time. Your soul will find salvation here. Because on the eighth day, God created boygroups!
Altar Boyz is a homage to the phenomenon ‚boygroup‘ and simultaneously a cheeky persiflage of this particular piece of youth culture: The five Boyz of a fictive Catholic boyband celebrate the final concert of their national tour Sensation Christ. In the course of the evening, they are confronted with a truly hard decision and through that they learn what real friendship is and how much they need each other… Enjoy a divine night at the theatre with captivating songs and spoofed boyband choreographies, accompanied live by a four-member band. A heavenly pleasuere!
The five Boyz with biblical names form a typical boygroup: lead singer Matthew, sensitive Mark, mass-wine-loving bad boy Luke, heartthrob Juan and lyricist Abraham – who isn’t quite sure why he‘s in the band since he’s a Jew…
The association Offstage: Off-musicals for Germany
Although Altar Boyz is among the top 10 of longest-running productions on Off-Broadway, the musical has hardly been performed in Germany. No suprise: small but excellent shows that are common in New York and London often remain unnoticed here. Therefore, the association OFFstage Germany, founded in 2017, aims at producing small but artistically outstanding shows with great professionalism.
Please note: The production of Altar Boyz takes place during the ball season with dinner seating. Information about gastronomy will follow shortly.
