089 Kult – Carnival party on Shrove Monday
A real Munich carnival party, just as Monaco Franze would have loved it as Lord of the Seven Seas or Charly from the Münchner G’schichtn. On Shrove Monday, we’re going all out and celebrating the premiere of 089 KULT. Together with the radio station of the same name, we are presenting two absolute originals from our beautiful city as star guests: the Spider Murphy Gang and Willy Michl. The Cagey Strings, Roland Hefter and the band Los Poppos will also provide music and atmosphere. Cabaret artist Moses Wolff will also be joining the party with a very special heavenly interlude.
The soundtrack of our city
The Spider Murphy Gang is a Munich institution and has been for more than 45 years. The motto 089 Kult probably fits no band better than the Spiders, who have written the most important songs for the soundtrack of our city with “Skandal im Sperrbezirk”, “Schickeria” and “Sommer in der Stadt”. With these and many more, they will really get the party going. Because they won’t be taking off their “rock’n’roll shoes” for a long time yet.
Isarflimmern and Bobfahrer-Lied
Singer-songwriter, blues bard, Iasarindian… There are a number of names that one encounters in connection with the Munich artist Wilhelm Karl Michl – better known as Willy Michl. His spiritual stage name registered in his passport is Sound of Thunder. One thing is certain: Willy Michl has been a veteran of the local music scene for decades and is a cult figure who cannot be missed at the big Munich carnival festival on Shrove Monday. Just like his anthem “Isarflimmern” (Isar Flickering) and his “Bobfahrer-Lied” (Bob Driver’s Song), which will have the whole hall singing along to the chorus at the top of their voices.
Genuine and with a lot of cheerfulness
Roland Hefter has long since made a name for himself as a Munich singer-songwriter far beyond the city’s borders. He recently started his own show on the radio station 089 Kult together with Monika Gruber. So it’s only logical that he will also be taking part in the party premiere. Together with his band Isarrider, he will create a great atmosphere in the Silbersaal. Roland Hefter’s songs are at times cunning and banging, at other times socially critical, but never too loud or even angry. And because he performs them with such irresistible ease, after a minute at the latest there is no one left in the hall who isn’t at least smiling or grinning. The party rock’n’rollers
The Cagey Strings have been a cult band in the live music scene for almost forty years and are at home on all stages and festivals! With a huge repertoire and a unique mix of rock ‘n’ roll and party sound, they get the atmosphere boiling at every event! They are well known to Oktoberfest fans from the Hackerzelt. And they’ve also performed at the Oide Wiesn Bürgerball, which opens the 2024 ball season on January 19. So it’s only natural that they should end the season with us on Rose Monday at the premiere of 089 Kult and rock the stage in our ballroom once again.
A very special Munich resident in heaven
Anyone who has ever managed to get their own letterbox in a beer tent at the Oktoberfest can certainly rightly be described as a Munich cult figure. The author, comedian, director, musician and actor Moses Wolff is also a multi-talent. We are delighted that he will be joining us for this special premiere evening. Guests can look forward to his very personal interpretation of the classic “Ein Münchner im Himmel”.
