We hit the drum

A real Munich carnival party, just like Monaco Franze as Lord of the Seven Seas or Charly from Münchner G’schichtn would have loved. On Shrove Monday, we’ll be kicking up our heels again and celebrating the second edition of 089 KULT together with the radio station of the same name after its brilliant premiere. And true to the motto “Never change a winning team”, our star guests are the Spider Murphy Gang and Willy Michl, two absolute originals from our beautiful city. The Cagey Strings will also provide music and atmosphere in the main hall. In the Silbersaal, Roland Hefter and Los Poppos will once again heat things up. Will “Baby Schimmerlos” be the presenter again like last time? Let’s take a look!

The soundtrack of our city

The Spider Murphy Gang is a Munich institution and has been for more than 45 years. The motto 089 Kult probably fits no band better than the Spiders, who have written the most important songs for the soundtrack of our city with “Skandal im Sperrbezirk”, “Schickeria” and “Sommer in der Stadt”. With these and many more, they will really get the party going. Because they won’t be taking off their “rock’n’roll shoes” for a long time yet.

Isarflimmern and Bobfahrer-Lied

Singer-songwriter, blues bard, Iasarindian… There are a number of names that one encounters in connection with the Munich artist Wilhelm Karl Michl – better known as Willy Michl. His spiritual stage name registered in his passport is Sound of Thunder. One thing is certain: Willy Michl has been a veteran of the local music scene for decades and is a cult figure who cannot be missed at the big Munich carnival festival on Shrove Monday. Just like his anthem “Isarflimmern” and his “Bobfahrer-Lied”, which will have the whole hall singing along to the chorus at the top of their voices.

The party rock’n’rollers

The Cagey Strings have been a cult band in the live music scene for almost forty years and are at home on all stages and festivals! With a huge repertoire and a unique mix of rock ‘n’ roll and party sound, they get the atmosphere boiling at every event! They are well known to Oktoberfest fans from the Hackerzelt. And they’ve also performed at the Oide Wiesn Bürgerball, which opens the 2024 ball season on January 19. So it’s only natural that they should end the season with us on Rose Monday at the premiere of 089 Kult and rock the stage in our ballroom once again.

Genuine and with a lot of cheerfulness

Roland Hefter has long since made a name for himself as a Munich singer-songwriter far beyond the city’s borders. He has his own program with Monika Gruber on the radio station 089 Kult. Together with his band Isarrider, he will create a great atmosphere in the Silbersaal. Roland Hefter’s songs are at times underhanded and raucous, at other times socially critical, but never too loud or even angry. And because he performs them with such irresistible ease, after a minute at the latest there is no one left in the hall who isn’t at least smiling or grinning. Roland Hefter and his band Isarrider are genuine. Genuine like their love for people, for life, for music, for cheerfulness, and with an indestructible optimism.

Full of energy and self-deprecating

The band Los Poppos has been playing Munich’s clubs and stages for almost 40 years. Number of members: Constantly growing, as all too loyal fans are quickly integrated into the shows. The Los Poppos Orchestra used to perform regularly at the legendary Atomic Café. After a performance there, the Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote: “Los Poppos is a mixture of big band, brass band, honkytonk and gypsy musicians… Los Poppos offer an exuberant, energetic and self-deprecating stage show in which everyone does everything.” The band fits in perfectly with the 089 Kult concept and will of course be back at the start.
